Beyond Tipping
The innovative use of tokens in tipping and apps is paving the way for the way for integration into larger, more community-focused projects. These tokens are no longer just currencies; they're becoming essential in creating new digital cultures and economies. The concept of scenecoins is gaining traction, where tokens are not just for transactions but fundamental elements of brand and community value creation.
One example is Higher, a lifestyle brand being built in real time by hundreds of people on the internet. Users contribute to a higher cultural vision, such as creating content that is minted on Zora with the $HIGHER token. This token provides value to both the brand and the creator, with value growing as more content is minted.
What stands out about their vision is that no one truly owns the brand, and everyone is encouraged to contribute. Highlight became the second platform to allow users to collect onchain media with the $HIGHER token, showcasing the flexibility of token usage in artistic creative markets.

Higher???
written by lght
Subjective Origins
Higher is not exclusive to my reality. It’s common vernacular in our space. “Higher” is a rallying call for pre-rich degens and ancient whales alike. For our gambles to exceed our expectations.
Higher did not start materializing in my mind as anything else until a solid 3+ months of reading my favorite quant in crypto. They always end their bullish messages with.. higher.
Mix in whirling price movements, increased workload, and some familial responsibilities; I was trying to course correct negative-emotion momentum as I realized ‘higher’ could be used as a mental model outside of price movement.
Nexterisms
Higher is emergent, decentralized, and crypto coordinated. It has a memetic icon, a token, a channel, and a philosophy.
When someone asked me for a tldr the answer was:
"gm, here's the tldr:
higher is simply a motto or affirmation - it's a calling card for those of us who were working during the bear and feel we are getting better and better
the channel /higher is our town square - we meme together, rally together, and go higher together
the token $higher is simply a materialization of this ethos & it's trajectory is self referential (if the market so chooses)
only rules are don't really focus on price & enjoy going higher together
A Higher Vision
For the Culture
written by androidsixtenn.eth
With crypto providing critical coordination rails, this fundamental limitation is lifting. The key insight here is that much like trade routes of past, commerce serves as a Trojan horse for culture. If you and I each have a stake in a brand, we have a much stronger incentive to back it in a full-throated way than we did if we were just consumers.
Now, not only can two people across the world vibe about a shared interest — they can buy-into it together and pool wealth in service of that interest and create an emergent XRL culture. We can create a token onchain that represents a brand, then create artifacts and events that bring it to life in the real world. Finally, we return back online or onchain with a deepened sense of connection, but also value — having owned a stake in the brand from the very beginning. To borrow a page from Chris Dixon's book, we're no longer just reading and writing to brands anymore — we're owning them and co-creating them.
The last 100 year arc wound much of the culture into atomic brands, as described earlier. If we are to shift the culture using new tech rails, it may be a fitting point to start at the end with brands, and unwind to our values. In other words, what would it look like if we coordinated around onchain brands, but left them malleable enough, for the underlying art, music, governance, and even values to be defined by future participants?
Higher is one of the very first experiments on this front, as a "brand" coin — a token that wasn't formed around utility, a meme, an individual, or even IP.Higher asks you to "believe in something" (emphasis added). It doesn't tell you what that something is, but suggests at a loose framework, and asks you to contribute your part. Like all brands, Higher is a substrate for people to overlay their individuality, but unlike top-down brands, leaves the underlying values and businesses more malleable.
these are excepts taken from a larger post that you can read here.

Culutural Movements

The Scenecoin Opportunity
written by Josh Cornelius
The memecoin opportunity is now well understood, but the emerging scenecoin opportunity less so. In both cases the token is the product, but how they derive their value and how you build them is different.
Memecoins are cultural prediction markets. They get their value from the attention captured by the underlying meme, and buying one is a bet that the meme will grow in cultural relevance. See $WIF, $BODEN, $POPCAT, $BITCOIN.
Scenecoins are cultural memberships. They get their value from the desirability of underlying scene, and buying one is a bet that the demand for participating in the scene will grow. See $DEGEN (farcaster believers), $ENJOY (onchain creators, $HIGHER (brand builders).
Memecoins have few external dependencies once they've reached consensus, scenecoins have many. They need active participation by members to make the scene increasingly valuable to be a part of. This is both a challenge and the opportunity.
The time, energy and money people were commiting to the $DEGEN scene created huge demand from projects to use it to bootsrap attention and distribution. They've been able to launch a top 10 chain (!!) on the back of this only 3 months after being created.
A similar opportunity exists across countless other scenes. Having a token building ownership rewards (through tipping), reputation, and speculation fundamentally changes what they're capable of.
What will sports fans, girlies, musicians, car enthusiasts, brooklyn elite go build? Don't know but we're going to find out.
